School History

Oak Forest Elementary School, located in Houston, Texas, has a history intertwined with the development of the Oak Forest neighborhood. Originally part of the Aldine Independent School District, the land was ceded to Houston Independent School District (HISD) in 1958. The school itself was built in 1951, with Stevens Elementary later established as a relief school in 1952 to accommodate the growing population. The area, initially unincorporated, was annexed by the City of Houston around 1949.
