Enrollment (2026-2027)

Enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year is now underway. To help us plan effectively and ensure your child’s registration is completed smoothly, please review the information below:

Step 1: The HISD online enrollment application for the 2026–2027 school year is now open - Enroll Here.   This step is for students who are NEW to HISD, RETURNING to HISD and ZONED to Oak Forest Elementary.  If your child has previously been at an HISD school, you will need your HISD student ID in order to re-enroll.  If you are outside of the zone, you will need to apply through School Choice - https://schoolchoice.houstonisd.org/

Step 2: Complete the Oak Forest Registration Packet- DOWNLOAD HERE. Please print the entire packet single-sided and fill out all sections completely.  You may notice that some questions in the online enrollment system look similar to the questions in our registration packet. However, as we transition to this new process, it is required that you complete the Oak Forest Registration Packet and bring the completed forms to your appointment.  These forms are necessary for us to finalize your child’s registration. 

Step 3: Call the front office to schedule a registration appointment.  Please bring all required documents and the completed Registration Packet to your appointment.

Registration Checklist for Zoned Families

1. The residence is zoned to Oak Forest Elementary. Please confirm using the "Find Your School" tool HERE
2. Student will be enrolling in Kindergarten - 5th Grade.  Oak Forest does not offer Pre-K. 
3. Students enrolling in Kindergarten must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st in the year of enrollment.

ALL OF THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION:

• COPY of Birth Certificate- State issued birth certificate required for students born in the United States; Passport required for students born outside of USA. 
• COPY of Social Security Card 
• COPY of Parent Driver's License - Address must match the address being used for registration.  
• COPY of Immunization Record - The following are required by the state of Texas:
  • DTaP series - 5 doses, last booster after fourth birthday (4 doses if 4^th given after    4^th birthday)
  • Polio series - 4 doses, last booster after fourth birthday (3 doses if 3^rd given after 4^th birthday)
  • MMR - 2 doses given after first birthday
  • Varicella - 2 doses
  • Hepatitis B - 3 doses
  • Hepatitis A – 2 doses, first dose received after first birthday
• Proof of Residency - THREE documents are required

1. Current electric bill showing residential service.
2. Current gas or water showing residential service.
3. ONE of the following:
   1. Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) - Statement showing homestead exemption for the current year.  If HCAD does not show an owner’s name   (ex: “Current Owner”), then a Property Tax Receipt showing the owner’s name(s) and a Homestead Exemption for the 2025 tax year is required.
   2. Warranty Deed if you recently purchased a home. If you are purchasing a home in the school zone, bring a signed contract with a closing date within the next 30 days. Final closing documents must be submitted, and you must live in the residence before the school year begins.
   3. Lease Agreement (If applicable) - If you are currently leasing a home or apartment, the lease must list all occupants living in the home, including children.  Please bring the entire lease agreement.  All lease agreements are subject to verification.  

• If Applicable:
  • Proof of grade level (for entering 1st - 5th grade): Copy of most recent report card
  • Withdrawal form (if enrolling 2 weeks after the start of school)
  • LEP/ESL/504/IAT/IEP/Special Education documents
  • Certified copy of divorce decree/custodial documentation
  • Previous school/private testing or reports

NOTE:  Students currently enrolled at Oak Forest Elementary do not need to re-enroll for the upcoming school year.
